Description
HI Vancouver Jericho Beach HI Vancouver Jericho Beach is a seasonal hostel, open from May to September, and located a few minutes away from beautiful parkland near forest trails and seaside paths on Vancouver's Westside. We’re the perfect location if you want to spend your summer outdoors and yet downtown is still only 20 minutes away!   Teamwork makes the dream work and staff have lots of opportunities to interact with guests in a casual, flexible workplace. Working at HI-VJB is a great way to meet new friends and experience Vancouver. Subsidized housing is available in our staff dorm, and you're welcome to borrow bikes and other sporting goods (tennis racquets for the free nearby courts or get a game of bocce ball or volleyball going!)   What's in it for you  * Get the best value on staff accommodation: $350 for a bed in a dorm, you won’t find anything cheaper in Vancouver! * Have fun with a tight-knit group of colleagues on shift and off. * Free stay at other hostels (weekend in Whistler!) * A laid-back, casual work environment that is a lot less stuffy than working in a hotel. * Being part of a not-for-profit organization that embraces sustainable tourism. * Room for growth and discovery! Many of our leaders started out on the front lines, and we’re eager to promote from within and provide opportunities to try out different roles. * Flexible schedule with early mornings or late afternoons/evenings shifts so you can enjoy the beach, grab a bike to explore the city or go on a hike in the mountains before or after your workday!   * Employee & Family Assistance Program What you will be doing  * Our full-time Activities Coordinator looks after our guest experience as well as our staff experience. You are responsible for the atmosphere and overall vibe of the hostel! * It’s a very demanding position that requires a unique set of skills. * You will be organizing activities and events in our hostel, bringing guests to events in the city or bar hopping downtown, so enjoying late-night socializing in a bar is a must - you can expect to be planning events, fulfilling host duties, and making new friends on a daily basis. * There's more, though - you will be developing partnerships with local businesses, managing the social media pages for our property, even taking guests out for an event in the city, bike ride, or stroll to the night market! It's all in a day's work for this very fast-paced but unique, fun, and social job. * On top of looking after our guests, the AC organizes staff activities, staff BBQs, and staff days.   What we look for * We are looking for a fun, outgoing, and charismatic individual who is not afraid of a challenge and is keen to become the best activities coordinator imaginable! * Ideally, you have previous experience in event management, some bar experience, and great public speaking abilities. You are also competent with video editing tools, making reels, and have a knack for great content. * The role of an Activities Coordinator is dynamic and involves planning, organizing, and executing various activities to enhance the overall well-being and engagement of individuals or groups.
