JOB OVERVIEW

As our Activities Coordinator, you’ll plan and lead engaging activities that make every day special – from arts and crafts to music, gentle exercise, quizzes, reminiscence sessions, and themed events. You’ll get to know each resident personally, tailoring activities to their interests, hobbies, and life stories.

SKILLS

  • Proven experience in event planning within an assisted living or residential care home setting.
  • Knowledge of Alzheimer’s/ care, memory care, dementia care, and senior care best practices.
  • Background in recreational therapy or related fields is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities or long-term care experience is beneficial.
  • Ability to assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed.
  • Excellent schedule management skills to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Understanding of aging issues counseling and social work principles is a plus. Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
  • Plan and coordinate events, outings, and recreational activities that encourage participation from all residents.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure activities align with residents’ care plans and support their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Facilitate group activities that promote socialisation, cognitive engagement, and physical activity.
  • Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continuously improve programming.
  • Provide training and support to staff in delivering effective recreational therapy interventions.
  • Engage with families to encourage their involvement in activities and gather insights on resident preferences.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all activities, adhering to health and safety regulations.
