SALARY: £12.60

HOURS: Part time
10am – 3pm
Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays Weekly. Plus, alternate Saturdays.
Purpose of Role:
To provide a full and varied programme of activities and social interaction for all residents to participate in. To assist residents with their daily activities in collaboration with the Home’s Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Organise all social activities and diversional therapy within the Home, considering residents’ preferences and interests.
  • Communicate with residents, relatives, and friends to gather and document social background and interests, incorporating this information into activity planning.
  • Develop a comprehensive and engaging activities programme and ensure it is well communicated to residents and staff.
  • Work closely with the Manager and Senior Care staff to identify beneficial and stimulating activities for residents.
  • Coordinate with the Manager and Senior Care staff to celebrate special occasions, such as birthdays and anniversaries.
  • Recognise and incorporate cultural and religious celebrations into activity planning, ensuring inclusivity for all residents.
  • Organise and participate in community visits outside the Home, coordinating transport arrangements for residents.
  • Manage the distribution of library books within the Home and liaise with appropriate library services.
  • Ensure the availability of specialist media resources for residents with special needs, such as news tapes, audiobooks, large-print books, and Braille materials.
  • Maintain open communication with residents’ relatives and friends regarding activities and social engagement.
  • Document activities and social interactions in residents’ Care Plans as required.
  • Support additional duties as needed, in alignment with the needs of the Home.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of communal areas such as the Lounge, Dining Room, and Lounge WC, coordinating with Housekeeping staff as necessary.
  • Sort and deliver residents’ post and newspapers.
  • Provide hot and cold drinks to residents and visitors upon request.
  • Attend to the main front and rear doors when the doorbell sounds.
  • Assist with the serving of meals and support residents during mealtimes.

Other Duties:
The post holder may be required to undertake additional reasonable duties following consultation with the Manager or Senior Care Assistant.
Your weekly hours will be detailed on the duty rota and will be scheduled to meet the needs of the Home.
