WHO ARE WE?
The Percy Hedley Foundation is one of the largest regional charities supporting people with a range of learning and physical needs. We take a person centred, flexible approach to the care and support we provide. We work towards excellence every day and our team members are committed to delivering the very best outcomes for the people we support.
Hedley’s Horizons provides adults with disabilities day opportunities and activities that promote the ethos of lifelong learning and the importance of wellbeing in adult life. Currently operating within Killingworth and Forest Hall we are due to open a new day service facility in North Shields. This new venture will allow us to expand our focus on individualised support, creating an environment where everyone can flourish according to their unique needs and interests.
Hedley’s Horizons is a busy, vibrant, and varied environment that supports disabled adults with cerebral palsy, communication and sensory impairments and complex learning needs including those with Autism Spectrum Conditions. We offer a choice of activities that meet peoples’ aspirations, needs and preferences, thus offering a very individual programme with support from a highly skilled and dedicated staff team.
We are looking to recruit an activity lead who will join an established team moving to our new site in North Shields. We seek an individual who has experience of the development; review; implementation and evaluation of activities for individuals particularly those with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC).
You will work with a small team of support staff delegating tasks to them, liaising with families and other professionals.
The service users that we support can display behaviours of concern and as such the succesfsul candidate will have experience working in a similar setting. The successful individual will also have excellent organisational skills and can be flexible in their approach and understand the importance of structure, routine and familiarity that this client group requires. This is an opportunity to develop an already successful service through a period of expansion.

You would be based at North Shields but on occasion you may need to work at the other sites in Killingworth and Forest Hall. Initially you will be based at our Killingworth site until the new service opens.
