Role Title: Actuarial Reporting Senior Associate - Manager

Purpose of this role
The Actuarial Reporting Senior Associate (or Manager depending on experience) will manage all actuarial valuation and reporting under IFRS for Athora’s Reinsurance as well as EBS/BSCR reporting, and assumption-setting, model development, and management information production relevant across reporting regimes. The role may require people management of more junior actuaries contributing to all actuarial work in ARE. The role requires significant experience of and deep expertise in IFRS, EBS and management of actuarial production cycles. The successful candidate will be required to develop and maintain relationships with other functions and teams within actuarial at ARE, Group, and other BUs.
Key Contribution Areas
- Ownership of the production and review of IFRS reserves within strict deadlines on behalf of ARE to Athora Group and for ARE’s financial statements.
- Key contributor to other actuarial calculations e.g. EBS, BSCR, AoC, sensitivity production, capital forecasting and pro-forma analysis.
- Lead model development related to IFRS reporting and play a key role in developing the wider actuarial tool-set e.g. in relation to BSCR calculations, Analysis of Change, and sensitivity production.
- Design, oversee, and maintain documentation of control framework for IFRS reporting and other processes.
- Lead actuarial assumption-setting for one or more portfolios.
- As owner of IFRS reporting and key contributor to assumption-setting and model development, the role involves giving key guidance to senior management on the drivers of past and future profitability and management levers.
- Planning, directing and reviewing the work of team members.
- Leading, developing and motivating the team to ensure that they achieve and contribute to their maximum potential.
- Guiding and initiating changes in current work practices to improve the efficiency of the output of the team.
- Ownership of documentation of models, assumptions and processes.
- Support ad-hoc analysis & investigations as required.
Personal Capabilities Required

Functional or Technical Knowledge and Skill Required
- Qualified actuary, 5-10 years total experience.
- Have an in-depth knowledge of financial and regulatory reporting requirements, alongside investments.
- Life insurance experience
- Overall strong technical knowledge of both IFRS with ability to understand complex theories and explain it to a number of stakeholders.
- EBS or another asset based valuation method (e.g. Canadian) preferable
- Excellent Microsoft Office experience and experience of development in a programming language e.g. VBA, Python.
- People Management experience is preferable.
