Description
Company Overview Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service. Overview The Testing Team is currently in search of a Summer intern to contribute to the execution of actuator performace, environmental, and functional tests on the flight-critical components and systems of our innovative eVTOL aircraft. This individual will collaborate closely with fellow engineers, offering hands-on support across a spectrum of testing projects. While we anticipate interns to assume significant responsibility, we are committed to offering the necessary support and guidance, fostering their growth and success within the dynamic, engineering-centric environment. Responsibilities Collaborate with test engineers in the preparation and execution of tests on aircraft structures such as fuselage, tail, and wing. Define test equipment and specify hardware for testing purposes. Install and integrate test instrumentation, encompassing hardware, data acquisition, and data analysis. Dive into digital data acquisition software, including hands-on programming with NI LabView. Required Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline at the currently sophomore level or higher. Solid foundation in fundamental engineering principles, supported by relevant coursework. Desired Educational focus in structures/composites, electromechanical/robotics, and/or controls engineering. Previous experience or demonstrated interest through internships, club involvement, etc. A positive, can-do attitude with effective listening and learning skills. Enthusiasm and passion for your work and projects. The pay range for undergraduate interns, which includes freshman to senior level students, is $22.00 - $31.00/hour. The pay range for graduate interns with a Bachelor, Master, and/or Ph.D. degree is $5,550 - $7,800/month. Relocation Assistance: This position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense. Additional Information Joby is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
