Department Overview The Acute Care Rehab Supervisor will oversee and manage a team of approximately 30 physical therapists, occupational therapists, and/or speech-language pathologists within the acute care setting. This role involves a combination of clinical and administrative responsibilities, ensuring high-quality patient care, effective team performance, and efficient departmental operations. The supervisor will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to foster a collaborative environment and support the continuous professional development of staff. Function/Duties of Position Team Leadership and Supervision Lead and supervise a team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and implement development plans. Evaluate staff’s competency and intervenes to optimize performance and ensure safe, quality, effective and efficient patient care. Oversee recruitment, hiring, orientation, and training of new staff members. Ensure staff compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Clinical and Operational Management Allocate and manage resources effectively to meet patient care needs. Monitor and evaluate productivity, ensuring optimal scheduling and workload distribution. Address and resolve clinical issues, providing guidance and support to staff. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices and regulatory requirements in rehabilitation therapy. Quality Improvement and Performance Enhancement Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and departmental efficiency. Implement evidence-based practices and protocols to improve clinical care. Collect and analyze data to monitor performance metrics and identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with other departments to ensure coordinated and integrated patient care Communication and Collaboration Foster open communication within the team and across other hospital departments. Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss patient care, address concerns, and share updates. Act as a liaison between the rehabilitation department and hospital administration. Promote a positive and collaborative work environment. Participate in hospital committees, representing the rehab department Direct Patient Care Provide direct clinical care to patients, maintaining clinical expertise and understanding of current patient care practices. Assess, develop, and implement individualized treatment plans for patients in the acute care setting. Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care. Other Duties as Assigned Required Qualifications Master's degree or higher in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting Current and valid license to practice in Oregon in either Physical Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, or Occupational Therapy American Heart BLS for Healthcare Provider Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies): Leadership: Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide a diverse team. Clinical Expertise: Advanced knowledge and skills in rehabilitation therapy. Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Preferred Qualifications Healthcare administration coursework or degree Acute care experience 2 years of recent formal or informal leadership experience Union experience preferred Additional Details Office work schedule associated with leadership in a clinical setting, i.e. may require long hours to achieve timely completion of work projects.
