Valiant Behavioural Health is a 10 bed Addiction and Mental Health Residential treatment center, which uses evidenced based and Christ based principles. We have locations in Kelowna BC, Ottawa Ont, and Florida. We are a family owned business that prides itself on small client numbers and personalized care. Clients stay 30-120 days, where they are provided all day sessions, meals and recreation.

JOB SUMMARY

The Addiction Counselor plays a crucial role in supporting individuals struggling with substance use and mental health disorders. This position is responsible for providing both individual and group counseling, as well as guidance, conflict resolution, and support to clients, staff and center.. The counselor will work collaboratively with the team to ensure clients therapeutic needs are met.

SKILLS

  • Experience working with substance abuse and mental health.
  • Strong case management skills, including the ability to document and track client progress effectively.
  • Proficient in data collection methods relevant to patient care and treatment outcomes.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology as it pertains to addiction treatment.
  • Understanding of education resources that may benefit clients during their recovery process.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members.

SCHEDULE

Valiant is looking for either a full or 2 part time individual for this role. Schedule hours will be fixed with need for some flexibility due to clients needs.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate clients’ needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients, focusing on coping strategies and recovery techniques.
  • Provide contact with family / loved ones including allotted family counseling sessions.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams, including physicians, social workers, probation officers, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate case management records, including data collection and documentation of client progress.
  • Educate clients and their families about addiction, recovery processes, and available resources.
  • Engage in research activities to stay informed about the latest trends and treatments in addiction counseling.
