Addiction Counsellor

Job Description:
RVH’s Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinics provide barrier free support to individuals seeking support for their substance related concerns.
The Addiction Counsellor will work with an interprofessional team to provide assessments, brief counselling, recovery planning and treatment referrals as well as facilitate psychoeducational and early recovery based groups.
To best support patients, the Addiction Counsellor will work in multiple RAAM clinic sites as scheduled, therefore travel may be required to various RAAM clinic sites including Barrie, Midland, Orillia and Wasaga Beach.

EDUCATION:

• Degree or Diploma in Health or Social Science field required
• College certificate in Addiction Studies from recognized institution required
• Certification as an Addiction Counsellor (International Certified Alcohol and Drug Counsellor (ICAD) or Canadian Certified Addiction Counsellor (CCAC) preferred
• Membership with a relevant college/registering body considered an asset
• Basic First Aid and CPR certifications required
• GAINS Q3 certification considered an asset

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 3 years direct care experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and mental health problems
