Position #: V01938 Expected Start Date: March 02, 2026 Union: HSAS Facility: Mental Health & Addiction Services City/Town: Regina Department: Addiction Services Continuing Care Unit - Outpatient Type: Full-time regular FTE: 1 Shift Information: Days Hours of Work: 8 hour shifts Relief: No Float: No Field Hours: Yes Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Addictions Counsellor - Degree $34.509 to $42.199 Travel Required: Yes Job Description: As a member of the Adult services team and under the general direction of the Manager the primary goal will be to assess, counsel and develop comprehensive recovery and case management plans which will restore, maintain or enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues. Responsibilities will include the provision of best practice methodology to assess & screen clients, and to provide individual & group counseling. The position will be expected to provide educational sessions and group therapy in the Day Treatment Program as required. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement" Human Resources Exemption: No Experience Experience with group therapy and addiction assessments and interventions. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Knowledge in Motivational Assessment Process Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies Knowledge in applicable policies, procedures and standards Demonstrates knowledge of a Holistic Addiction Treatment Model Empathy and respect necessary to engage and develop rapport Ability to develop appropriate recovery plans Knowledge in Developmental Model of Recovery Ability to prioritize Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals Knowledge in Transtheoretical model of change Knowledge of community resources in the addictions field. Ability to work independently Knowledge in individual, family, group, and crisis counselling methods Knowledge in various mental health disorders and stability interventions Knowledge in group dynamics Ability to deliver workshops and lecture material to clients. Ability to provide individual, group and crisis management counselling skills Ability to accurately assess addictions and/or addiction related issues. Ability to triage cases Knowledge and ability to monitor withdrawal symptoms related to substance use.
