QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Our ideal candidate will be an innovative professional with the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field from a recognized university or a relevant field. A Master’s degree will be an asset.
  • Certification or licensure in Addictions Counselling (i.e., CADC, CACCF, CCAC, ACHP or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3 years of combined experience that reflects work in the areas of substance use and addiction.
  • Certification in ASIST or CISM, or related training, and/or be willing to become certified.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and 12-Step Facilitation.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of best practices related to models of care, research, and trends in the field of substance use and addictions.
  • Knowledge of harm reduction, relapse prevention, and trauma-informed care approaches.
  • Maintains positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, exercising diplomacy, judgement and tact.
  • Provide evidence of previous proposal/policy/framework development.
  • Knowledge of community development.
  • Maintains a high degree of confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience working with First Nations people and organizations, and working with diverse populations, is an asset.
  • Advanced computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional, desktop publishing, and Windows.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license as travel is required.
