JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE Adjunct Faculty in Education POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in the undergraduate Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education programs. The faculty member will design and deliver engaging coursework, support students' academic and professional growth, and contribute to the overall effectiveness and excellence of the University's teacher preparation programs. This position reports to the Dean of Education. PRINCIPAL DUTIES organizing and presenting subject matter in a meaningful way to achieve intended learning outcomes for students; managing in-person and/or online asynchronous learning experiences using BrightSpace; evaluating student progress and providing constructive, robust feedback in a timely manner in BrightSpace; responding to student communication in a timely manner; recording roster verifications, student grades and attendance in CobraStop by required deadlines; following the policies and procedures of Coker University and the Wiggins School of Education ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Current South Carolina Teaching License 5-7 years of successful teaching experience in PreK - grade 6 setting EDUCATION A master's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field in Education, along with relevant teaching experience. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to public education, a passion for preparing future teachers, and the ability to cultivate meaningful, collegial working relationships with students, faculty, and staff. EXPERIENCE: 5-7 years of successful teaching experience in PreK-6 settings, demonstrating strong instructional practices, effective classroom management, and a deep understanding of early childhood and elementary curricula. Experience designing and delivering engaging learning experiences, including lesson planning, assessing student learning, and differentiating instruction to meet diverse learner needs. Experience using learning management systems (e.g., BrightSpace, Blackboard, Canvas) to facilitate instruction, provide feedback, and track student progress. Experience mentoring, coaching, or supervising teacher candidates, paraprofessionals, or novice teachers (preferred). Experience integrating technology effectively in both in-person and online learning environments. Experience collaborating with colleagues, families, or school partners, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with South Carolina academic standards, early childhood/elementary instructional practices, and expectations for professional educators. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and professionally to undergraduate teacher candidates. Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating an ability to build positive, productive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community partners. Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to manage course materials, maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, and balance multiple instructional responsibilities.
