Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. JOB SUMMARY:

Faculty will be responsible for teaching Art Appreciation to Early College Academy students at Elkton High School on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30 am to 9:20 am. This is a spring semester course that runs from mid January to early May. The teaching position involves the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. Initial preparation guidance is available from College art faculty.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Master’s degree in Fine Arts or Art History or equivalent graduate credits; or Master’s degree in Education or related course of study with a background or undergraduate degree in art.
  • Successful secondary-level and/or college-level teaching experience in the related field. Only completed applications (resume, letter of application, portfolio, and unofficial transcripts) will receive consideration. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Prior teaching experience in secondary education preferred or teaching experience in a college/university setting with a desire to work with secondary-level students in a college level course.
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.
  • Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e-mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills.
  • Able to work with students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
