UNIT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Sociology Department seeks an experienced Administrative Assistant, Academic (II) who will promote the success of students, faculty and teaching assistants through high quality administrative support, clear communication strategies, including media and digital methods, and expertise with process implementation. Building on McMaster’s and the department’s commitment to strategic and operational excellence in academic affairs, the Administrative Assistant will exemplify the values of trust, respect, accountability, integrity, and teamwork.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for supporting the annual curriculum planning and enrolment process, including providing assistance to students with enrolment issues, liaising with the Registrar’s office on scheduling and enrolment tasks, leading the course evaluation process and is accountable for the coordination of specific educational activities and events within the Department. This position also provides general administrative support in other areas to staff, faculty and students and provides front-line service for general department inquiries.
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for providing administrative support for an academic program or department. Plans and coordinates a variety of academic program or department events and activities and is also accountable for monitoring the graduate program budget and forecasting financial gains and shortfalls. Performs the duties of the position in accordance with established policies, procedures, and calendar of events.
