BAKERY ADMIN MANAGER FFB

The Free From Bakehouse is an award winning specialist baked goods business supplying a range of gluten free and vegan bakes wholesale to high street shops and independent cafes. We also retail weekly at Borough market and provide cakes online to private customers.
We have a vacancy for an experienced colleague to join our small bakery team as a Bakery Admin Manager who is willing to take on a wide number of different duties across the business.
This is a hands on role and requires someone who possesses great attention to detail, can multi-task, is organised and can prioritise and manage their own workload and that of others. Our business has grown rapidly over the past few years and we look for staff who enjoy responsibility, have a passion for their role and show commitment.
The key areas of responsibility are as follows:
· Our bakers/decorators are supported by providing the ingredients (and tools) they need to fulfil their role
· To ensure a cost efficient and accurate weekly ordering process is followed and executed accurately (for ingredients, packaging and any other business-related needs). Managing stock control.
· Ensuring great customer service is maintained.
· Monitoring the workload of the packaging team (2 individuals) and ensuring they have the necessary tools and support to carry out their duties.
· Being the main point of contact between the team at BM & Bakery and the owners
· The bakery schedule is maximised, but baker workload dispersed fairly
· Managing staff holiday applications and related admin for Payroll co
· Ensuring all staff keep the EHO standards required for the bakery & BM stall.
· Ensuring teams adhere to strict food safety, allergens and quality standards.
· Produce excel reports on business expenses as required by the owners
· Handling any Bakery vacancies and helping to select interim or permanent staff as needed.
· During very busy times, help where practicable with simple cake decorating and/or packaging
· Bringing any changes/communication from BM and/or wholesale customers to the attention of the owners, proactively handling queries where possible.
· Helping create a newsletter to customers regarding promotions or new / seasonal products

You should demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to multi-task is essential to be successful in this role
  • Being adaptable to changes without stress
  • Competency in the use of MS tools - Excel etc.
  • Attention to detail imperative
  • To use initiative when planning, prioritising and co-ordinating workload
  • To be self-motivated and be able to work under tight timelines
  • To be extremely organised and tidy
  • Can adapt in a calm manner to new situations/changes/processes as they arise
  • Experience of over-seeing staff duties
  • Enthusiastic with a happy, friendly nature
  • A team player who is always hands on
  • Non-smoker and punctuality important
  • A very good level of written & spoken English is required
  • Experience of similar role in a commercial & fast paced food environment (ideally a bakery) would be valuable tho not essential

The successful candidate should also possess a valid work permit and National Insurance number and should have recent experience in this role, working in the UK. This is not a part-time role. Ideally we’d like someone to start towards the end March / early April tho this is open to discussion for right candidate.
Hours: Monday to Friday - Approx 35-45 per week. 09/9.30am start – 5/5.30pm finish. We offer flexibility regarding start/finish. Clock watchers aren’t popular with the team. Some days will be a little shorter and some longer. 30 minutes unpaid lunch break.
Occasional weekend work (Sat or Sun) may be required during seasonal months (Dec).
Remuneration: Depending on experience, £13.50-£14.50 per hour plus benefits (pension, 28 days holidays, fruit and … cake!). You will be put on a monthly payroll.
Location: We are moving to SW8 4EX this month. Interviews will take place at SW11 5QL.
