PROGRAM AND LOCATION: VOA, a Certified Great Place to Work, is recruiting for an Accounting Manager position for VOA-NCNN. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: The Accounting Manager is responsible for accounts payables, accounts receivables, payroll processing, and other assigned accounting functions as needed. All work is completed in an accurate, timely, and professional manner in compliance with accounting regulations and department standards. Work is also performed in a cost effective and service-oriented manner as it relates to established organizational standards. Objectives include supportive interaction with program directors, staff, and outside service/product providers. OBJECTIVES/ACTIVITIES: A. Supervisory1. Recruit, supervise, and train Payroll, AR, AP, Revenue Accounting positions2. Review and approve timecards, time off requests, schedules 3. Conduct performance reviews and provide mentoring4. Organize/plan departmental events (team building, birthdays, etc.) B. Payroll1. Assist with technical issues for all payroll system related issues2. Review payroll for accuracy3. Ensure payroll is fully funded C. Accounts Receivable1. Review data entry and all receipts entered2. Work with AR Accountant on collections D. Accounts Payable1. Review data entry and all payments prepared for processing2. Review credit card statements and receipts E. Revenue1. Review/approve all contract billing invoices2. Meet with programs regarding contract budget spending3. Manage contract revenue tracking spreadsheet F. Banking 1. Manage positive pay and exceptions 2. Manage agency credit cards (new users, limits, replacements, etc.) G. General Ledger1. Work with Senior Staff Accountant on posting errors and reclasses2. General ledger analysis and statistics H. Reporting & Support1. Ensure all internal reporting deliverables are met and documented on the server2. Assist in monitoring visit requests3. Provide 990 data support4. Serve as backup for Payroll, Receivables, Payables, Revenue Accountants as needed5. Document and report all concerns and/or infractions that can impact the program security.6. Provide audit support as necessary and requested by Controller I. Other1. Secure approval for exceptions to standard policy 2. Notify management of potential workflow problems and resource needs necessary to attain performance standards 3. Communicate with on-site staff, Program Directors, employees, and product/service providers as required 4. Comprehend and adhere to ethical standards, program philosophy guidelines, and confidentiality laws as well as employee handbook 5. Assist with the training of temporary agency staff for accounting needs 6. Assist in maintaining/updating computerized accounting system 7. Continually learn and enhance technical and interpersonal skills 8. Participate in both internal and external training as needed for growth and development.9. Other Duties as Assigned Qualifications EQUIVALENT EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: This position requires bachelor’s degree in accounting with at least five years accounting experience. One to three years of supervisor experience desired. Must have demonstrated knowledge of and ability to perform the following: computerized accounting, payroll processing, accounts receivable/payable and insurance processing, Excel spreadsheets and double-entry accounting. Must have a willingness to accept responsibility and do repetitive and routine work. Good judgment and tact are required in handling confidential information. Provide services to employees and clients without ethnic or social prejudices. Must have the flexibility to work irregular hours and have the willingness to function as a team member. Valid California driver’s license and ability to meet our insurance carrier’s guidelines required.
