3. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide high-level, confidential administrative support to the CEO, Executive Team, and
Elected Members.
- Manage Council’s digital and print communications, including website and social media
updates, media releases, newsletters, and speechwriting, to ensure accurate and timely
information sharing.
- Lead the development, review, and formatting of key strategic documents such as the
Regional Plan, Annual Report, and Strategic Infrastructure Plans, ensuring alignment with
Council objectives and legislative requirements.

- Plan and deliver regional events and public engagement initiatives, including seeking
sponsorship, coordinating logistics, and ensuring inclusive participation across the Barkly
region.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, and
community representatives, providing support across departments and contributing to
projects through travel to remote communities as needed.
- Contribute to the successful implementation and fulfillment of the Regional Plan’s objectives

7. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA – QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience in developing and implementing effective media and communication strategies.
- Proven ability to create quality content for digital platforms, including social media, websites,
newsletters, and public documents. - Knowledge of office administration with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work
under pressure. - Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant communication tools.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
8. DESIRABLE CRITERIA – QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
- Qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
- Experience in local government or the public sector, with knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Experience working with multicultural and remote Indigenous communities.
- Familiarity with systems such as InfoCouncil, InfoXpert, and web content management tools.
