ABOUT US

The key functions of the Independent Planning Commission are to determine State significant development applications where there is significant opposition from the community or council; conduct public engagement for development applications; and provide independent expert advice on any planning matter when requested by the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces or the Planning Secretary.
The Office of the Independent Planning Commission (OIPC) provides professional and technical support to the Commission and its members. The OIPC is the main point of contact for the public and Government agencies in regards to referred cases. It coordinates and facilitates the Commission’s decision-making processes and aims to provide efficient, transparent and high-performing support services.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

This role is the backbone of office operations, responsible for reception duties, diary management, catering, meeting preparation, booking travel and assisting the Business manager with finance functions. You’ll ensure seamless communication with stakeholders, manage records, and keep the office running smoothly. On the finance side, you’ll process invoices, raise purchase orders, assist with budgets, and support financial reporting - helping the team stay on track.
With competing priorities and tight deadlines, your ability to multitask, stay organized, and provide exceptional customer service will be key. You’ll need to handle sensitive information with discretion, adapt to changing demands, and contribute to improving business processes.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • At least three years of experience in administration, with a strong background in receptionist duties and office support.
  • Proficiency in computer-based systems, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Familiarity with records management systems is a bonus.
  • Entry level understanding of financial operations, accounting, and reporting practices. Experience within a government agency is beneficial.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines, juggle multiple tasks, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive mindset with an interest in improving processes and finding efficiencies.
  • Experience in a public-facing role, with the confidence to handle inquiries, manage complaints, and provide excellent communication to customer with professionalism and discretion.
