Under general supervision, provide support in purchasing/accounts payable, serve as the Department receptionist and provide various aspects of administrative support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - FOR FULL CONSIDERATION, APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO UPLOAD LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATION IF REQUIRED OF THE POSITION

  • Experience providing administrative support in a business office environment including front office phones, greeting visitors, planning meetings, conference calls and department events.
  • Experience in accounting and purchasing. Knowledge and skills to investigate purchasing and accounts payable problems and to make decisions on resolutions.
  • Experience using automated financial systems.
  • Organizational skills to complete record keeping and filing functions.
  • Computer skills to use PC with knowledge of various word processing and spreadsheet software. Spelling, punctuation, grammar, and writing skills.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively and professionally, tactfully and diplomatically with a diverse group of people including faculty, staff, students, and public.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of equipment, lab supplies and chemicals used for teaching and research.
  • Skill to manage heavy workloads, handle multiple tasks, set priorities and remain flexible while maintaining accuracy and adhering to deadlines.
  • Knowledge of University policy and procedure related to purchasing and financial matters within the University, including departmental guidelines, and outside agency requirements.
  • Skills and knowledge to use on-line financial information systems.
  • Skills to maintain system records of business and financial transactions.
