Job Description
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking applications for a part-time Administrative Assistant 2 position. This position is at 75% FTE = 30 hours per week.
Under the direction of the NSHE Specialist 1, this position will be responsible for departmental and faculty support by acting as a liaison and providing accurate information to faculty, obtaining and routing memos, assisting faculty with international travel forms and scheduling/processing of travel for candidates and employees within Workday. The position will also manage inventory, assist with onboarding and offboarding for student worker, temporary hourly and LOA employee types, track all office space and key assignments, and process department room reservation requests. The Administrative Assistant 2 will also assist with customer service and student support by ensuring functioning of daily operations such as enrollment management, processing full course overrides, and greeting visitors. The role will manage and maintain the general department email account; screen student questions and problems and enter and maintain Student Worker timesheets.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two (2) years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR
  • One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, phone, written, time management and customer service skills; handle all matters with confidentiality; ability to sit for extended periods of time and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
Schedule
The typical work schedule for this position is Monday – Friday 10:30am to 5:00pm (includes 30-minute lunch); this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 25
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
