Description
Human Resources is seeking a dynamic and detail oriented individual to join our team as an Administrative Assistant. This position will assist the City of Virginia Beach's Staffing and Compensation Division team by supporting administrative processes related to recruitment and retention of the City's workforce. Duties will include, but not be limited to: Providing quality service and assistance to customers, city department staff, and onboarding employees. Assisting with scheduling of onboarding appointments and associated activities. Scanning fingerprints and assisting with other background check procedures. Coordinating the new hire ID badge creation and distribution processes. Completing I-9 documents for new hires. Filing and transmitting of electronic documents for department records. Responding to Public Service Loan Forgiveness and other employment verification requests. Answering/routing calls and representing HR Staffing & Compensation as the first point of contact for customers. Preparing correspondence and basic reports in support of divisional needs and requests. Routing subpoenas for employee records as appropriate. Conducting market salary research as requested.
