Community Living-Central Huron is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, primarily funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services. The Agency provides a variety of services and programs to adults and children with a developmental disability who reside in Central Huron, as well as throughout the County of Huron.

Requirements:

  • two-year Community College Diploma in Business Administration/Accounting or related field;
  • minimum three years’ experience working in a computerized and automated work environment; experience in the non-profit sector would be an asset;
  • proficient computer skills in current software; such as Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel, and Adagio Accounting (or similar);
  • experience with general accounting and year-end procedures is a requirement;
  • ability to adapt and prioritize to changing situations to meet deadlines;
  • experience working in a highly confidential environment;
  • flexible hours to meet the needs of the Agency;
  • superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • highly organized with the ability to self-direct and work independently, as well as work within a team environment;
  • knowledge of legislation, financial, social and advocacy services for individuals with disabilities would be an asset;
  • alignment with the agency’s philosophy of supporting people with disabilities to live inclusive and self-directed lives;
  • valid certificate in First Aid & CPR, WHMIS, Class G driver’s license; proof of two million dollars third party liability and use of personal vehicle;

Responsibilities
  • provide direct support for the Director of Finance, to meet the demands of the Executive Director, Program Managers, and Supervisors, in the day-to-day operations of the Agency;
  • provide administrative support for some county wide programs, including processing invoices for individualized funding
  • administer and record information of deposits, cheques, receipts, banking information, etc. for the Treasurer, of the Board of Directors and activities/fundraisers of the Board of Directors and its Board Standing Committees
  • Reconcile Bank Statements and accounts for Board of Directors
  • Liaise with Agency Financial Auditor and provide draft Statements of Revenue and Expenditures, etc.
  • act as the Recording Secretary at regular Board Meetings and be the primary conduit between the Board of Directors and Executive Director
  • assist with reception duties at Central Administration
