General Position Overview: If you are a computer savvy, self-motivated, multitasker looking for challenging and rewarding work experience, our Fire Department invites you to apply for this position. The primary role of this position is to perform administrative and technical support to the City’s Fire Chief. Work involves office management, assisting citizens and officers, accounts payable, and maintaining compliance for Federal and State level reporting. Job Duties * Responsible for maintaining the database for training, schedules, incident response, code enforcement, and equipment certification to with accuracy. * Handles day-to-day expenditures by receiving, categorizing, and allocating charges to maintain the fire department’s budget expenses. * Manages the fire department’s uniform policy to include inspection, policy compliance, and disposal. * Assists with fire prevention program to include material orders, scheduling events, scheduling smoke alarm installations, as well as inspections. * Handles citizen inquiries for public education events, fire reports, station tours, smoke alarm requests, and inspections. Minimum Requirements, Qualifications and Experience: * Associate degree supplemented by (1) one to (2) two years of administrative or technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. * Ability to multi-task and have strong organizational skills. * Experience with categorizing, allocating, and receiving expenses for an operations budget. * Computer savvy with experience in MS Office and ability to learn fire system database program. * All applicants must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license. Application Deadline: Job posting open until filled Hourly Position: $17.01 - $17.36 per hour Fringe Benefits: * 11 holidays per year + 1 annual floating birthday; * Accrue two weeks of sick leave annually starting from date of hire; * From date of hire, accrue two weeks of vacation time annually up to 2 years of service; then accruals increase to three weeks; at 15 years of service, accruals increase to four weeks.
