POSITION SUMMARY:

The Multicultural Council of Windsor & Essex County (MCC) is seeking a highly organized and personable Administrative Assistant/Front Desk Clerk to serve as the first point of contact for clients, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service while ensuring the smooth operation of front desk activities and administrative tasks. This role requires professionalism, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • Diploma or degree in Administration, Business Administration, Office Management, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Additional training or certifications in customer service, office administration, or records management are considered assets.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in an administrative or clerical role, preferably in a non-profit, settlement services, or customer service setting.
  • Experience working in a front-facing role, handling high volumes of client interactions, and managing administrative responsibilities.
  • Previous experience working with newcomers, refugees, or culturally diverse populations is an asset.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other office management tools.
  • Familiarity with database systems, digital filing, and record-keeping practices.
  • Strong typing and data entry skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

COMMUNICATION & INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, staff, and external partners.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to handle inquiries and concerns with patience and professionalism.
  • Fluency in Arabic or another second language is considered an asset.

ORGANIZATIONAL & PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS:

  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to think critically and problem-solve while maintaining professionalism.
  • High level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in record-keeping and administrative work.
