Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Physician Assistant role based in Toronto, ON. The Physician Assistant will work under the supervision of licensed physicians to perform patient assessments, obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, and assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Daily responsibilities include ordering and interpreting routine tests, documenting encounters in the medical record, prescribing medications and therapies in accordance with regulations and delegated authority, and providing patient education on diagnoses, treatments, and preventive care. The role involves assisting with procedures, coordinating follow-up care, collaborating with nursing and allied health professionals, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. The Physician Assistant is expected to maintain accurate documentation, follow clinical guidelines and safety protocols, and contribute to a supportive and inclusive clinical environment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current certification or eligibility for certification as a Physician Assistant.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant in Ontario, and compliance with all relevant provincial regulations and practice standards.
  • Demonstrated competency in patient assessment, clinical decision-making, and evidence-based care across common acute and chronic conditions.
  • Strong skills in medical documentation, including accurate charting, use of electronic medical records, and clear written communication.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, patients, and families.
  • Ability to manage multiple patients, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and to providing non-discriminatory, culturally sensitive care to diverse patient populations.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development, quality improvement projects, and adherence to infection prevention and safety protocols.
  • Previous clinical experience in primary care, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or a related specialty setting is an asset.
