POSITION OVERVIEW

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire an Administrative Assistant I for The Office of Oil and Gas Resource Management. This position will function as a staff assistant to the Field Manager, participating in the analysis of existing operations, systems, budget requests, or equipment, in order to make recommendations leading to reduced operating costs, improved services, and greater general efficiency. The Office of Oil and Gas Resource Management regulates the injection of fluids into underground injection wells, through the Underground Injection Control Program, and cleans up abandoned well sites through the Plugging and Restoration Fund and Landowner Grant Programs. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
  • Requires one year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) years of professional experience in a public or private organization performing work directly related to the Illinois Oil and Gas regulations.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in a public or private organization reviewing and processing field inspection documentation related to oil and gas drilling, production, plugging, and restoration projects.
  • One (1) year of experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • One (1) year of experience entering data into a database or documents into a document management software application.

Responsibilities
  • Under direction of the Field Manager, functions as a Staff Assistant assisting in the interpretation and installation of programs and procedures.
  • Gathers data and statistics and prepares reports for the Field Manager.
  • Initiates office procedures related to the Field Unit, including setting up and organizing filing or tracking systems, manages Field Unit electronic forms, document imaging and database input policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the review of Field Unit expenditures and accounting procedures.
  • Serves as liaison with the Office’s management personnel when needed and other state and federal agencies regarding Field Unit programs and operations.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
