POSITION OVERVIEW

Performs administrative support functions for the Assistant Director of the Office to Prevent and End Homelessness (OPEH). Coordinates the day-to-day activities of the Office. Serves as a liaison with program and administrative staff throughout the Department. Coordinates interagency projects involving the Assistant Director. Receives confidential mail and calls, some of which are sensitive and controversial. The Office to Prevent and End Homelessness (OPEH) is a Statewide Office which works across State agencies and is administratively housed within DHS. OPEH’s mission is to coordinate State of Illinois agency strategies and investments and to partner with the community to build a strong safety net and permanent housing for Illinoisans facing homelessness and housing insecurity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
  • Requires two (2) years of professional experience in a public or private organization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) years of professional experience performing administrative support functions for a public or private organization.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience coordinating the day-to-day activities, scheduling meetings, updating and monitoring calendars for a public or private organization.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail while multi-tasking multiple projects.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience responding to requests, gathering and organizing materials and resolving sensitive and/or controversial issues as it relates to personnel issues for a public or private organization.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience working in a public or private organization maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.
