ABOUT THE POSITION

The IRT Secretariat is seeking a dedicated candidate to join our team in Natuashish, NL. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Innu Child & Family Services and the Income Support Manager, this position plays a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and providing essential support across two departments.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, motivated, and discreet, with excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail. Prior experience in office administration, particularly within Indigenous organizations, will be considered a strong asset.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Office Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, with at least 3–5 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fluency in Innu-Aimun is considered a strong asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Knowledge of Innu culture and history is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience working with Indigenous organizations is an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support including drafting correspondence, scheduling meetings, and managing calendars.
  • Greet and assist visitors, ensuring a welcoming and professional office environment.
  • Answer and direct incoming calls, emails, and inquiries.
  • Prepare and maintain documents, reports, and presentations.
  • Organize and maintain filing systems, databases, and records.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, meeting logistics, and events.
  • Assist with data entry, invoice processing, and expense tracking.
  • Support management and staff with special projects and other administrative tasks as required.
  • Support proactive communication and promotion of the Income Support Program.
  • Gather and review all required information and documentation for benefit applications.
  • Assess service requests and ensure the rationale for support is clearly identified.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to clients in response to inquiries.
