Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board (DSB) is looking for a self-motivated & energetic individual to join our industry-leading organization which works towards the delivery of high-quality services and programs to the residents of Manitoulin-Sudbury districts. Created by the provincial government, the DSB is responsible for overseeing and managing a range of services divested to the municipal order of government, including Ontario Works, Community Housing, Paramedic Services (Land Ambulance), and Early Learning and Child Care Services.

Our Team
The Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board is comprised of 14 board members and has been in existence for 25 years. With three main departments, Integrated Human Services, Paramedic Services, and Administration, and over 200 employees, we service a large geographical area totaling 45,000 square km. Our organization is responsible for the development and execution of annual budgets exceeding $50 million. The Opportunity
We are currently looking for a driven individual to join our team as an Administrative Assistant. The position will be in Espanola within our Paramedic Services Department.
In this position, you will provide administrative support to designated programs and services of the Manitoulin-Sudbury DSB. The administrative services are provided in accordance with all applicable Municipal, Provincial, and Federal legislation, and the Manitoulin-Sudbury DSB policies.
The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative functions and support services in relation to the Ambulance Act.
Qualifications and Specific Skills

Education

  • 2 to 3-year diploma in Business Administration or Administrative Assistant from a recognized college.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in secretarial and office services, preferably in a public administration organization working with a senior executive, preferably in the administration of public services.

Skills

  • Effective oral and written communication, organization, and problem-solving skills and ability to do so with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand and interpret provincial statutes, regulations, and policies pertaining to program delivery services.
  • Ability to work with computer programs relevant to writing reports & correspondence, analyzing data, managing projects, and communicating electronically.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with vendors and suppliers to negotiate prices/services and costs.
  • Bilingualism will be considered an asset.

Ability to travel as required. Valid Ontario class “G” driver’s license with access to an appropriately insured vehicle as required for employment-related use.

Salary: $32.60/hour (35 hours per week)
