In this role, you will collect and manage sustainability data from dairy farms for the Agricultural Business Information Network (BIN). You will be responsible for a set of pig farms, complemented by farms from another agricultural sector (e.g., poultry, dairy, or arable farming). Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining relationships with these farmers. That’s why you’ll work closely with our BIN participants from one of our regional offices: Alkmaar, The Hague, Drachten, Holten, Goes, Oisterwijk, Meijel, or Wageningen.
The Agricultural Business Information Network (www.wur.eu/businessinformationnetwork) is a network of approximately 1,500 agricultural and horticultural companies, 100 fishing vessels and other ships, and 150 forestry businesses. At Wageningen Social & Economic Research, around 50 administrative staff maintain this network. The main tasks and responsibilities in this role include:
Collecting financial and sustainability data from a fixed group of BIN-participating companies. You collect this data from the farm’s business administration or digitally (e.g., electronic invoices), derive it from the accounting records provided by their accountants, or by conducting questionnaires with the entrepreneurs. You record the collected data in a database and make it available for internal researchers.
Maintaining relationships with BIN participants. For each entrepreneur, you compile an annual report with the business results and key environmental indicators, and create a digital comparative business overview via MijnAgrimatie.nl. During your visit to the entrepreneur, you explain these reports and answer any questions. At the same time, you initiate the data collection for the new year. Each year, you also recruit a few new participants to compensate for natural turnover. After your onboarding period and in a full-time role, you will spend approximately one day per week visiting farms.

You will also receive a competitive salary appropriate for the responsibilities of this role. Depending on your experience, the salary ranges from € 3,231 to € 4,374 gross per month based on a full-time work week (36 hours), in accordance with scale 8 of the Wageningen Research CAO. If you do not fully meet the job requirements yet, scale 7 may apply as a starting scale.
The initial contract will be for one year. If the organizational and economic conditions allow, and your performance is satisfactory, the contract can be extended. We’d be happy to discuss this further in an interview.
