Description

WHO WE ARE

The Diocese of York is the Church of England between the Rivers Humber and Tees, and from the Yorkshire coast westwards to around the A1. We are seeking to Live Christ’s Story (LCS) by becoming more like Christ, reaching people we currently don’t, growing churches of missionary disciples, and transforming our finances and structures.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a proactive and highly organised Administrative Assistant to play a key role in helping us deliver a high standard of property and asset management across the diocese.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident with data entry, record keeping, and scheduling
  • A good communicator with strong customer service skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • Comfortable working with IT systems, including databases
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Property Administrative Assistant, you’ll provide vital support to the Property team, particularly assisting the Clergy Housing Coordinator. This varied role involves everything from handling calls and organising meetings to managing property records and coordinating housing moves. You’ll be at the heart of our operations, helping to ensure that our 255 properties and wider estate portfolio — including the Diocesan Office and Wydale Hall — are managed smoothly and compliantly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a first point of contact for telephone and help desk enquiries
  • Maintain and update property records using our Propman system
  • Support scheduling of maintenance, inspections, and clergy housing moves
  • Assist with invoice processing, council tax administration, and insurance reporting
  • Prepare meeting papers and take minutes for quarterly Archdeaconry meetings
  • Provide administrative support for grant applications and trust management
  • Work collaboratively with the wider diocesan administrative team
