It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work Salary Range: $31,200-$49,340 This position is located at Avery Mitchell Correctional Institution in Spruce Pine, NC, Avery County. Avery Mitchell Correctional Institution is a medium custody male facility. This position will be required to perform a variety of administrative, clerical, and office support duties. This position will be required to have knowledge of the office or work unit policies and procedures in order to communicate information involving programs, functions, and services. Duties performed may include preparation of documents and reports, composition of memos and letters, the use of office technology, compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, posting information, greeting, referring, assisting visitors, clients, staff and others, mail distribution, and photocopying. This position will serve as the primary staff assistant to a department in Programs. This position will serve as an Inmate Records Clerk. This position will also require DCI certification. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Management Preferences: ***Documented knowledge of Microsoft Suites*** Necessary Qualifications: Will need to be DCI Certified This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC02. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.
