REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience to indicate possession of skills required for the position;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and
  • Ability to multi-task.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field;
  • Experience performing complex duties in a higher education setting preferred; and
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office suite.
Responsibilities
  • Social media and marketing coordinator, website administrator and department representative at undergraduate recruiting and orientation sessions. Create marketing flyers and informational packets for classes, department events, and other department initiatives. Gather weekly brown bag information, design and display flyers, update the white board, post on Facebook and Twitter, and send information to Today@Mason coordinator. Post advising tip of the week on department Facebook and Twitter pages. Update bulletin boards with relevant materials and maintain overall appearance of the department. Co-author of undergraduate newsletter. Take pictures at department events and profile pictures for bulletin boards and website profiles.
  • Administrative receptionist, customer service, assistance with undergraduate advising appointments, department administrative support including mail, scans, faxes, physical keys/key codes and electronic access. Coordinate advising schedule and maintain appointment-scheduling system. Co-supervise work-study students. Department telecom coordinator including maintenance of department phone list, and billing and telecom service requests. Keep inventory on all office supplies and replace items when needed.
  • Department purchasing including requesting quotes, purchasing business cards, lab supplies, office supplies, course materials, food and beverage, and reconciliation of purchase card.
  • Equipment inventory and check out, room and equipment reservations, poster printing, special events catering contact, and food and beverage processing. Assist with event set up as needed.
  • Provide ad hoc administrative support in the undergraduate office for all administrative duties.
