ABOUT US

Western’s Office of Academic Quality and Enhancement (OAQE) works to ensure the quality of the University’s graduate and undergraduate academic programs. Working closely with academic leaders of all departments and faculties across the University, the office directs quality assurance processes for all existing and new academic programs as required by the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance (QC).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Undergraduate Degree

Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience coordinating or managing projects in a complex, confidential environment
  • Preferred:
  • Experience working in a postsecondary environment
  • Experience supporting operational leaders
  • Experience drafting communications and reports for senior leaders and/or formal decision-making bodies
  • Experience coordinating or managing projects in an academic environment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of general office procedures and with best practices for assessing, developing and implementing new administrative processes and procedures
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices for handling sensitive and confidential information and with best practices in records maintenance
  • Familiarity with event management techniques and tools and with project management methodologies
  • Communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, write clearly, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of information and communicate these succinctly in written form
  • Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
  • Client service skills with an ability to apply tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive issues and a range of personalities, motives and interests

Responsibilities

The Administrative Coordinator will primarily work with the Director, and collaborates with coordinators at the undergraduate and graduate levels to provide a variety of process, project, administrative and logistical supports to the Office of Academic Quality and Enhancement (OAQE) in the context of Western’s varied quality assurance processes. The Administrative Coordinator will compile, review, analyze, synthesize and manage evaluative data in the preparation of program assessment documents and other related activities. The Administrative Coordinator will ensure the smooth and efficient administration of the Office including the preparation of reports, management of the Office website, and coordination of meetings, schedules providing support for projects and programs.
