Overview About the Role The Administrative Director of Clinical Research Services provides strategic and operational leadership for all clinical research activities conducted at University Hospital (UH) or involving its records. This role ensures compliance with UH policies, regulatory requirements, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, with a focus on the ethical and efficient use of electronic medical records (EMR) and other data resources for research purposes. Responsibilities include oversight of research billing operations, revenue collection for research procedures, and the management of processes governing access to UH EMR data by Rutgersand external research personnel. In close collaboration with physicians,senior administrative leaders, and Rutgers University partners, the Administrative Director develops and drives a shared vision and strategic plan for Clinical Research Services. This includes setting priorities, monitoring progress, and ensuring alignment with the broader research mission and strategic objectives of both University Hospital and Rutgers. Key partnerships span UH Healthcare Finance, clinical investigators, and research administrators at both UH and Rutgers. The Administrative Director maintains comprehensive records of all research projects involving UH patients, oversees the development and approval of billing plans and study packages, and serves asthe primary authority for approving requeststo access UH data or generateresearch‐related reports. This leadership role is critical in upholding the integrity, compliance, and financial stewardship of UH's clinicalresearch enterprise. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Provides strategic and operational leadership for all clinical research activities conducted at University Hospital (UH) or involving UH records Ensures compliance with UH policies, regulatory requirements, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards Oversees the ethical and efficient use of electronic medical records (EMR) and other data resources for research purposes Manages research billing operations, including billing oversight and revenue collection for research-related procedures Oversees processes governing access to UH EMR data for Rutgers University and external research personnel Collaborates closely with physicians, senior administrative leaders, and Rutgers University partners to develop and implement a shared vision and strategic plan for Clinical Research Services Sets strategic priorities, monitors progress, and ensures alignment with the research missions of both University Hospital and Rutgers Partners with UH Healthcare Finance, clinical investigators, and research administrators at UH and Rutgers Maintains comprehensive records of all research projects involving UH patients Oversees the development and approval of research billing plans and study packages Serves as the primary authority for approving requests to access UH data or generate research-related reports Ensures the integrity, regulatory compliance, and financial stewardship of UH’s clinical research enterprise Qualifications What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN), Business, or a related field required Master’s degree preferred Minimum of seven (7) years of administrative experience in a hospital clinical environment required At least five (5) years of experience in a leadership capacity Demonstrated experience interacting with physicians and familiarity with hospital clinical processes Certification in clinical research (CCRC, CCRP, or CRC) required Working knowledge of regulatory requirements, including IRB policies, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, and federal regulations related to research and research billing Proven experience growing and expanding clinical research programs Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple levels of the organization Demonstrated track record of creative, entrepreneurial management and strong interpersonal leadership skills Knowledge and experience achieving high performance in a unionized environment preferred What We Offer Medical & Prescription Drug Coverage Dental & Vision Insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) & Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Short- & Long-Term Disability Insurance Pension Plan Pet Insurance Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Professional Development Compensation The expected salary range for this position is MS/34S-Min $117,217 /Max $189,564 per year in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
