ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Office of Sustainability (OOS) is seeking an Administrative Intern to assist in the creation of the City’s first Energy Access Plan. The City of Phoenix, Office of Sustainability, is dedicated to enhancing sustainability and resilience across the city and within municipal operations. We collaborate with city departments, governmental institutions, and community partners to implement innovative programs and projects that create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for all. Duties are performed under the City Energy Manager and require considerable initiative and independent judgment within an assigned area of responsibility.
Energy Access Plan Development: This role will be essential in assisting the City Energy Manager/ OOS in leading the creation of a new comprehensive energy policy required by the City’s participation as a C40 City. This includes analyzing public input to identify and prioritize implementation strategies requiring advanced analytical and policy development skills, advanced project management skills, and interdepartmental and external partner coordination capabilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree with major course work in the professional area for which internship is considered, or current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program related to the internship’s professional area.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Two or more years of experience with sustainability/community program coordination, grant writing & support.
  • One or more years of experience with policy guidance, survey creation & analysis, and public engagement.
  • Institutional Review Board certification.
  • Service year in the AmeriCorps VISTA program.
