St Michael’s Primary School, Nelson Bay is seeking a Temporary Part-Time Administrative Officer to join our friendly and supportive team. This role offers 22.5 hours per week from 13 October 2025 to 3 July 2026, with workdays on Thursdays and Fridays, and the third day negotiable for the right candidate.
Located in the beautiful Port Stephens region—just a 45-minute drive from Newcastle CBD—St Michael’s is a vibrant K–6 school with 275 students. JOB DESCRIPTION

The School Administrative Officer provides administrative support to school staff and the school principal. Administrative Officers within the Catholic Schools Office, Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle may be classified as either a level 4,5 or 6. Indicative duties for each of these levels can be found under the leadership framework - Administrative Support.

EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA

  • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school
  • Excellent written communication skills and strong verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience using initiative and self-motivation in the workplace
  • Demonstrated ability in accurately and proficiently performing a wide range of administration tasks
  • Intermediate experience and ability to work with various databases, Microsoft office programs and excel
  • Demonstrated capacity to organise, prioritise and multitask to meet various deadlines
  • An understanding and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and be responsible and accountable for own work with the capacity and willingness to work in a team environment
  • Willingness to Comply or Compliance with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy. Category A – Accreditation to Work
  • Experience with Compass and TechOne (Desirable)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number
  • Completion of Anaphylaxis training
