Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Clerical Officer to join our dynamic Medical Imaging and Medical Physics Department. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with experience in reception and administration to become an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team. The role will be based across two hospital sites: the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and the Northern General Hospital.
The ideal candidate will bring a flexible and adaptable approach to their work, as the role may involve a variety of tasks to support the smooth operation of our department. While previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is desirable, it is not essential, as full training and support will be provided to the right candidate.
This position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced and rewarding setting, where you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient delivery of services within the Medical Imaging and Medical Physics Directorate. If you are a proactive individual with strong organisational skills, a positive attitude, and a commitment to providing excellent administrative support, we would love to hear from you.
This is a vital role within our Radiology Department, playing a key part in the delivery of high-quality patient care by managing the patient pathway and providing essential support to our wider team. Our roles are diverse, fast-paced, and rewarding, offering the opportunity to make a real difference to patient outcomes. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Receive and process all routine, urgent, and Faster Diagnosis Framework electronic and paper referrals, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and radiology protocols.
Coordinate patient appointments using various communication methods (phone, email, text, etc.), offering choice of dates, times, and locations, and confirming all details, including special requirements (e.g., transport, interpreters).
Maintain accurate patient records , ensuring demographic details are up-to-date and all interactions are recorded in relevant IT systems (e.g., Lorenzo, CRIS, ICE) to ensure a full audit trail.
Support the radiology team by arranging additional appointments, requesting necessary information from other providers, and assisting with the coordination of pre-procedure diagnostics.
Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with all Sheffield Teaching Hospitals policies, procedures, and guidelines, including mandatory training requirements.
We are committed to helping our staff balance their work and home lives and ensure they feel supported, valued and appreciated so whilst you care for our patients and clients, we’ll take care of you. We offer many different ways of helping staff including career development opportunities, flexible working, good annual leave and pension schemes, health and wellbeing packages and financial support systems. Joining the Trust also allows you access to a number of saving options via our salary sacrifice schemes and a wide range of discount opportunities with retailers and service providers.
The successful candidate will join a friendly, supportive, and collaborative team that values the contributions of all staff. We offer excellent training and development opportunities to help you grow in your role and advance your career within the NHS.
If you are enthusiastic about making a difference in patient care and would like to discuss this exciting opportunity further, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We look forward to hearing from you.
