Position Summary: The Administrative Specialist is responsible for assisting with processing Family Medical Leave and University Leave of Absence requests and related correspondence. The Administrative Specialist will perform a variety of clerical tasks, including answering phone calls and e-mails, sorting and filing paperwork, data entry, and other record keeping. Maintains an internal Access database and is responsible for producing various queries and reports. Calculates available paid time off as it applies to individual leaves. Performs other duties as assigned. * This position requires the following background checks: criminal history review. Required Education and Experience: At least two years of directly related administrative experience. Demonstrated customer service experience. Demonstrated data entry experience. Experience answering a multi-line telephone. Experience managing a database. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills and Abilities: * Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access) * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. * Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills. * Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to effectively interact with diverse individuals. * Ability to handle information in a confidential manner. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Skills and Abilities: * Demonstrated understanding of the Benefit process and billing. * Knowledge and experience with KRONOS, Banner, FMLA, STD/LTD, Workers’ Compensation. Essential duties: * Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access) * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. * Excellent interpersonal, and telephone skills. * Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to effectively interact with diverse individuals. * Ability to handle information in a confidential manner. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
