QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet the following Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification.
Applicant must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrate your ability in: 1) Providing administrative support to an office such as screening all incoming mail and correspondence items, distributing mail, and preparing general correspondence; 2) Assisting with coordinating administrative programs such as property management, telephone and equipment services and repairs, supply management, file maintenance and disposition, evidence and security, and general offices services; 3) Gathering and reviewing documents for completion that requires signature by the supervisor; and 4) Utilizing software to create reports, edit letters, develop spreadsheets and import graphs.
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

As an Administrative Support Assistant (OA) your typical work assignment may include:
- Reviewing and supporting the administrative functions of the office relative to internal interactions with DEA stakeholders and responses on various tasks and deliverables.
- Researching back-ground information, forwarding mail or correspondence when referring inquiries to appropriate staff members for action.
- Using automated systems and a variety of software packages to create, format, modify and edit letters, reports, spreadsheets, and other administrative correspondence, uses advanced word processing functions and other software functions to generate tables of contents, develop spreadsheets, import graphs or databases, and align multiple columns in preparing materials for the Senior Inspector or Unit Chief.
- Receiving requests from other organizations within the agency for information concerning integrity and analysis, assembling the requested information from available data.
