What You’ll Do

As a member of the Financial Responsibility Division, you’ll help keep Nebraska roads safe by supporting key compliance and safety efforts. Job duties could include, but are not limited to:

  • Processing Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) disqualifications, ensuring all actions are taken in accordance with federal and state regulations
  • Analyzing motor vehicle crashes to determine whether driver’s license suspension is appropriate under Nebraska law
  • Communicating with insurance companies to verify crash-related coverage and determine eligibility for license suspension
  • Responding to the public through multiple channels, including:

o Live Chat from the DMV website
o Phone inquiries

o In-person customer service at the DMV office

  • Reviewing and verifying records, including driving history, court documents, crash reports, and insurance information
  • Collaborating with a 13-person team focused on identifying drivers with unsafe histories and taking appropriate action
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of case actions, communications, and findings

Requirements / Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications: (Applicants will be screened for possession of these qualifications. Applicants who need accommodation in the selection process should request this in advance.)
Coursework/training or experience related to research, presentation, or publication in an area related to the programs or functions of the employing agency; business administration; accounting; customer service; and/ or technical support work, including use of computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.

Preferred: Education or experience in one or more of the following areas is helpful (but not required):

  • Business administration, Accounting, Research or data analysis, Customer service, Technical support
  • Customer service-oriented with strong communication skills
  • Detail-oriented , organized, and able to prioritize tasks
  • Technically proficient with common software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, databases)
  • Eager to learn, grow, and contribute

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must pass fingerprinting and a background check conducted by the Nebraska State Patrol
