Job Summary
Perform plant accounting activities such as budgeting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital work orders, outage tracking, etc. Provide assistance to material management function.
Job Description

What You’ll Do:

  • Possesses administrative knowledge acquired from a Bachelors degree in a related field from an accredited school; or equivalent education and experience. Gains familiarity with AEP’s General Terms & Conditions, specifications, standards, codes and regulations relevant to accounting/materials functions. Performs work in accordance with AEP Corporate Code of Conduct.
  • Gains familiarity with Fossil & Hydro Power Gen. Gains familiarity with pertinent equipment, materials, tools, systems and business processes.
  • Participates in the process of planning and scheduling of accounting/materials management activities.
  • Assists with providing input to annual budget, capital forecasts, five year plan and improvement requisitions. Participates in company and contractor’s meeting, as requested. Assists higher level employees to ensure work is accomplished according to schedule and plan. Participates in the process of accounting/material management activities. Maintains required records. Assists with preparation and analysis of reports.
  • Applies knowledge in resolving routine problems in assigned work. Uses initiative in identifying opportunities to increase job knowledge/skills while presenting new ideas and approaches to doing business.
  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing. Listens and identifies customers need/wants. Effectively communicates with team, management and customers/contractors/vendors. Assists in the preparation of reports and papers.
  • Develops decision making skills under guidance of higher level employees. Develops an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the local business unit. i.e. plant, region, etc. Ensures compliance with F&HPG housekeeping guidelines. Understands our Company’s business perspective and is aware of risks. Develops consensus building skills. Active participation in professional and business organizations is encouraged.
  • Is an active member of the team. Sees differences in people as an opportunity. Demonstrates ability to work with others in both supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary. Demonstrates willingness and capabilities to assume leadership role. Demonstrates initiative to enhance learning and improve performance. Performs work in a safe manner.
