Job description An excellent opportunity for an experienced paralegal/administrator to provide support to a team specialising in criminal defence and professional disciplinary law. The successful applicant will assist a partner and three qualified lawyers. The role will entail responsibility for the administration of the department as well the provision of paralegal support. Applicants must have experience of working as a paralegal and a real interest in this area of law. They should be accomplished communicators; equally adept verbally in person/on the telephone and at drafting correspondence. They must be able to conduct effective legal research and have first-rate note taking skills. They should have a meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational skills, a proactive approach to their work and a ‘can do’ attitude. The successful applicant will be responsible for the team’s administrative matters and will need to balance their paralegal and administrative duties appropriately to ensure no task is neglected. The role will involve:- Attending meetings and court hearings Assisting in the drafting of legal documents Electronic filing of case-related documents and emails Invoicing files, taking and acknowledging payments Credit control Preparing bundles Lodging documents at court Legal research Factual research Proof reading Researching and drafting legal blogs and updates Ad hoc administrative tasks (including supporting the smooth operation of the office).
