Job Description: GENERAL SUMMARY (Describe the overall duties and responsibilities of the job): The Cooper Standard Cybersecurity team has an exciting opportunity for an entry level candidate to launch their career in this dynamic, challenging field. This position will enable you to become part of the team responsible for protecting the Company’s systems, networks, and data. You will participate in the continuous development and evolution of the Cybersecurity program and gain valuable hands-on experience with several aspects of information security. Responsibilities will be varied and will fall in the areas of Security Operations, Security Engineering, and GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance). Some examples include reviewing and mitigating security incidents, addressing vulnerabilities, executing phish testing, developing and delivering employee awareness training, third-party risk management tasks, and addressing policy requirements. If selected, you will be a part of a small, but exceptional team responsible for protecting a global organization from real-world threats. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties required for successful job performance): Support centralized process for Cybersecurity within a global, multi-site environment Monitor security utilities like SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) to evaluate network traffic and system logs for suspicious activity and security incidents. Respond to alerts and escalate incidents as needed Help investigate security incidents (e.g., phishing, malware infections), document findings and assist in containment and recovery efforts Assist in developing and delivering cyber training materials; help track employee participation and effectiveness of programs; coordinate and deliver phish testing. Maintain security documentation by updating cybersecurity related policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. Assist with vulnerability assessments and penetration testing as required Participate in compliance audits, security assessments, and other cybersecurity related evaluations in support of internal and external audit processes. Provide guidance to company personnel on cybersecurity matters as appropriate Outsmart attackers, stop threats, and protect the organization Complete other responsibilities as assigned REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE (These are the traditional minimum, or required, bona-fide occupational qualifications and other requirements of most people in this job). Associate degree in cybersecurity, IT, computer science, or related field required Experience with PC, server, and network technology required Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity or related discipline preferred Cybersecurity / IT certifications a plus Limited experience (e.g., internships, volunteer IT support roles, lab work, participation in cybersecurity competitions) REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those needed to perform the essential functions of the job). Transparency and integrity in all situations Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles (CIA triad, vulnerabilities, threats, risks) Basic knowledge of operating systems (especially Windows) Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs) Exceptional listening skills and good situational awareness Ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-dimensional technical issues Detail oriented and exceptional organizational skills Willingness and disposition to continuously learn new skills and to train others Self-motivated team player with strong communication skills Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a complex environment REQUIRED DECISION-MAKING AND ORGANIZATION IMPACT (Describe the typical types of decisions made by employees in this job and the likely impact of those decisions on the Company). Reports Director of IT Security & Compliance (may have a dotted line to a local IT Manager) Will have no direct reports WORKING CONDITIONS (Describe the environment within which the work is performed).
