JOB SUMMARY:

The Nursing Admissions Advisor serves as a key contributor to the mission and growth of the College of Nursing (CON) at SUNY Upstate Medical University. This role advances the College’s strategic enrollment goals by innovatively recruiting and advising prospective nursing students across diverse academic pathways including RN-BS, MS/NP, DNP, and post-graduate certificates. The Advisor will steward the student journey from initial inquiry through matriculation, serving as a relationship builder, strategic communicator, and liaison between students, faculty, academic programs, and external partners. Presents on the application process to high school and college students and participates in recruitment opportunities. Conducts course evaluations for students and enters transfer credit information into Banner for all accepted students. Confirms that all appropriate prerequisites and admissions requirements have been fulfilled for all matriculating students. Plan and assist with virtual and on campus admissions events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Nursing, Public Health, or a related field; or Bachelor’s with a minimum of 2 years experience in admissions, advising, or student services. - Valid NYS Drivers License; availability for statewide travel and evening/weekend events. - Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; public speaking experience required. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a student-centered, mission-driven environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Professional experience in nursing education or healthcare-related admissions. - Familiarity with Slate, Banner, or similar enrollment systems. - Background in DEI-focused recruitment and advising strategies.
