Description

Position Purpose: Completes day-to-day tasks regarding admission, discharge, and/or transfer of residents in accordance with local, state, and federal standards and regulations, as well as established facility policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have, as a minimum, one (1) year of experience
  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of arithmetic.
  • Sales experience, particularly in health care services, products, or pharmaceuticals, is desirable.
  • Familiarity with long-term care and/or health care services preferred.
  • Must be knowledgeable of insurance coverage and the authorization process pertaining to long-term care is helpful.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for participating in an open and collaborative relationship between the business office and the admissions office, both working toward shared facility goals for occupancy and collections.
  • Utilizes sales techniques with sales encounters and communicates with Central Intake.
  • Handles walk-in or inquiries via phone and invites the referral source to the nursing center.
  • Follows up on inquiries by conducting center tour visits and completing inquiries in the electronic system for the admissions department.
  • Ensure patient family members are provided with brochures about the nursing home, answer questions about Medicare, and room rates.
  • Ensures residents are admitted, transferred, and discharged from the facility software accurately daily.
  • Must be knowledgeable on served market areas, patient origin, and major referral sources.
  • Must be informed of referral statuses at all times.
  • Plans, coordinates and execute community referral source events.
  • Manages all incoming inquiries as needed.
  • Must be knowledgeable in utilizing clinical inventory to evaluate patients for admission.
  • Maintain contact with insurance company to determine or verify insurance.
  • Must meet at the center with family upon or before and ensure all necessary paperwork is signed timely and accurately.
  • Inspects patients’ rooms to ensure cleanliness.
  • Arranges for room accommodations changes.
  • Ensure that family members are provided contact information for centers department heads and patient handbook.
  • Responsible for communicating and interpreting nursing home regulations pertaining to visitors, visiting hours, clothing and disposals and state regulations.
  • Required to maintain thorough knowledge of centers’ product, physician capabilities, and payer source.
