Description POSITION SUMMARY: The Admissions Counselor serves as a primary point of contact for prospective students and their families throughout the recruitment and enrollment process. This position plays a vital role in identifying, recruiting, and enrolling qualified students who will thrive at Lourdes University. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a genuine commitment to guiding students through one of life's most important decisions. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the counselor will develop and execute recruitment strategies within an assigned territory while contributing to the overall success of the admissions team. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruitment and Relationship Building Effectively communicate the mission, values, and distinctive offerings of Lourdes University to prospective students, families, high school counselors, and community partners Represent Lourdes University in assigned geographic territories through high school visits, college fairs, community events, and other recruitment activities Develop and maintain positive relationships with high school counselors, community-based organizations, faculty, staff, and other key stakeholders to promote enrollment goals Independently identify and prioritize high schools and community organizations for recruitment visits based on data analysis and strategic planning Student Engagement and Counseling Conduct on-campus and virtual interviews with prospective students and their families, providing personalized guidance through the admissions process Respond to inquiries and maintain consistent communication with prospective students through phone calls, text messages, email, and other appropriate methods Guide prospective students and families through campus tours, open houses, and other recruitment activities Serve as a knowledgeable resource on academic programs, campus life, student services, and the overall Lourdes experience Application Management and Decision Making Review and evaluate student application files to make timely admissions decisions in accordance with university standards and policies Assign merit scholarships based on academic credentials (GPA and test scores when applicable) and institutional guidelines Manage an assigned applicant pool from initial inquiry through enrollment, ensuring personalized attention and timely follow-up at each stage Track and document all interactions with prospective students using Slate (CRM system) to maintain accurate records and inform recruitment strategies Strategic Planning and Collaboration Develop and implement a comprehensive recruitment plan designed to meet annual enrollment goals for an assigned geographic territory Analyze recruitment data, application trends, and enrollment patterns to assess effectiveness and adjust strategies as needed Work collaboratively with the Office of Student Financial Aid to ensure students receive accurate information about the financial aid process, deadlines, and available resources Coordinate closely with the Athletics Department, including coaches and the Athletic Director, to support the recruitment of student-athletes Plan and execute special recruitment projects and initiatives that support overall enrollment objectives Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and cross-departmental initiatives to stay current with best practices in college admissions Technology and Communications Utilize Slate (Admissions CRM) to effectively manage prospect pools, implement communication campaigns, and track recruitment activities Contribute to the development of recruitment communications, marketing materials, and social media content that resonates with prospective students Requirements Required Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly, including overnight trips Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines Proficiency with technology including PC/Mac applications, CRM systems, and online communication platforms Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for recruitment events, open houses, and other activities High degree of personal integrity, professionalism, and enthusiasm for higher education Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team Preferred One to three years of experience in admissions, enrollment management, student services, or a related field in higher education Experience with Slate or similar CRM platforms Bilingual proficiency in Spanish Understanding of financial aid processes and scholarship programs Public speaking experience Desired Attributes Genuine passion for working with students and helping them achieve their educational goals Strong sales and relationship-building skills with the ability to connect authentically with prospective students and families Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving Desire to be actively engaged in the campus community and contribute to the mission of Lourdes University PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT This position requires the ability to travel extensively within assigned territories, attend evening and weekend events, and work in various settings including high schools, college fairs, and community venues.
