Job Details Job Location: BARRY ROBINSON CENTER - NORFOLK, VA Salary Range: Undisclosed Description The Director of Admissions serves as the senior clinical leader responsible for overseeing the admissions process, clinical operations, and strategic planning at The Barry Robinson Center. This role requires advanced clinical expertise, independent decision-making, and strong leadership skills to ensure the highest standards of clinical care, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. This role will collaborate with executive leadership and interdisciplinary teams to support the organization’s mission while providing exceptional service to youth, families, and referral sources. Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in Social Work, Professional Counseling, or related clinical field Current licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia, or equivalent licensure with Virginia reciprocity Minimum of 5 years of experience providing mental health services to children, adolescents, and families Advanced skills in clinical diagnostics, assessments, formulations, and treatment planning Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a clinical setting Preferred Qualifications: Training and experience with regulatory bodies governing admissions in psychiatric residential treatment settings Knowledge of Tricare insurance systems and military healthcare requirements (must be obtained within first 6 months if not possessed at time of hire) Experience with trauma-informed care practices What You'll be Responsible For: Clinical Operations & Admissions Management Review and assess clinical materials submitted for residential treatment referrals Conduct comprehensive clinical interviews with youth, families, and providers to assess psychiatric history, risks, treatment needs, and discharge planning Make independent determinations for admission or alternative referrals, consulting with COO on high-risk cases Communicate admission decisions to families, providers, and internal stakeholders Develop treatment goals, care plans, and clinical reports for accepted youth Facilitate admissions and provide orientation support to residents and families Conduct and oversee initial and ongoing assessments in alignment with regulatory requirements Strategic Planning & Data Management Track, analyze, and report admissions data and clinical trends (diagnostic patterns, referral timelines, acceptance/denial decisions, treatment outcomes) Prepare quarterly reports for executive leadership and board meetings Maintain up-to-date knowledge of facility programs, services, and treatment modalities Provide referrals and resources for youth outside of program scope Leadership & Collaboration Build and maintain relationships with referral sources and community partners Consult with interdisciplinary treatment teams regarding clinical needs of new admissions Develop and deliver clinical training programs based on admission trends and needs Participate in team meetings, clinical supervision, and organizational planning sessions Facilitate tours for families, providers, and stakeholders Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure compliance with CARF accreditation standards and Virginia DBHDS regulations Maintain knowledge of licensure and regulatory requirements affecting admissions and discharges Recommend updates to policies and procedures as needed Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise Admissions Coordinator and Discharge Coordinator Support discharge planning and ensure family/treatment team needs are met May supervise additional clinical staff as department expands Financial Stewardship Collaborate with Finance on budgetary planning and expense management Monitor departmental spending to ensure operations remain within budget Provide financial stewardship reports as part of quarterly reporting Professional Development Maintain professional licensure through continuing education Stay current with best practices in adolescent residential treatment and military family mental health Expand knowledge of Tricare systems and military healthcare requirements Benefits: Full benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance 403(b) retirement plan with company contribution Company paid life and long-term disability insurance Generous paid annual leave (Vacation) Paid sick leave Paid Holidays Tuition reimbursement, details below: $3,000 per calendar year after 6 months of tenure $5,000 per calendar year after 2 years of tenure PLSF Eligible Nonprofit Organization (Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program) Employee events and activities Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Annual performance reviews Opportunities for advancement And more!
