POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Adult Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the mental health field by initiating corporate decisions and leading change within the organization. The successful candidate will have substantial knowledge of contemporary issues in mental health, change management, and relevant legislation.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Medically qualified with GMC registration and a license to practice.
  • MRC Psych or equivalent qualifications.
  • Completion of Core Psychiatry Training (CT1–CT3) and Higher Specialist Training (ST4–ST6).
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) confirming eligibility for consultant psychiatrist roles.
  • Recognized medical degree (e.g., MBBS, MBChB) from a GMC-approved institution.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in psychiatry, including prior consultant experience in a management role.
  • Expertise in psychiatric diagnosis and treatment.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and its applications.
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and projects.
  • Familiarity with mental health service regulations and change management practices.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment planning for adult patients.
  • Engage in business and corporate decision-making processes to improve mental health services.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate patient care and treatment.
  • Stay updated with current developments in psychiatry and ensure adherence to the Mental Health Act 1983.
  • Contribute to change management initiatives and address purchaser/provider contractual issues.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to junior staff and trainees in the department.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to service development strategies.
