ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
• MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
• Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in general adult psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, psychiatry of learning disabilities (LD), or medical psychotherapy is preferred.
• Section 12 (2) approval and Approved Clinician (AC) status.
• Recognized medical degree (e.g., MBBS, MBChB) from a GMC-approved institution.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within the NHS or private healthcare settings.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team providing care for patients with complex mental health needs.
• Experience in providing leadership in clinical situations and mentorship to less experienced staff.

• Provide consultant psychiatrist input to inpatients in specialized rehabilitation services or acute psychiatric wards.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to deliver care for patients with complex needs.
• Conduct psychiatric assessments and formulate treatment plans, ensuring adherence to the Mental Health Act 1983.
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and trainees, promoting best practices in psychiatric care.
• Engage in regular appraisals and continuous professional development to maintain GMC registration.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of clinical protocols and guidelines.
